The East End Classic Boat Society is having a Classic Boat Fair on Saturday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Community Boat Shop in Amagansett.

More than 30 classic boats, including rowing and sailboats, will be displayed and sold during the free event, and light food and beverages will be served.

The society is almost finished building a 12-foot-8-inch Catspaw dinghy, which will be featured and raffled off on Saturday. Kayaks built at the boat shop will also be on display with their builders on hand to explain the construction process.

There will also be a nautical
flea market all day and rope tying, splicing and whipping demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Founded in 1998, the East End Classic Boat Society describes itself as a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to the skills and traditions of wooden boat building and restoration. It conducts programs for youth and adults on small boat design, building and restoration at the Community Boat Shop, as well as lessons in navigation, lofting, sailor arts, boat repair and maintenance. The boat shop is now open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
